Fixed Broadband Access

Fixed Broadband Access, PON, GPON, XGS-PON, OLT, ONU, ONT

Broadband access refers to data connectivity services at speeds of 256 kbits/s or greater. Typical technologies that provide broadband access are DSL, cable, and fiber, with fiber being the most popular among them. Passive Optical Network (PON) technology provides cost effective fiber broadband connectivity for residential and enterprise users. There are different PON specifications, like GPON, XG-PON, XGS-PON, which provide broadband connectivity at speeds of 2.5Gbits/s (downstream) / 1.2Gbits/s (upstream), 10Gbits/s / 2.5Gbits/s, and 10Gbits/s / 10Gbits/s, respectively.

Argela, together with its subsidiary company Netsia, helps operators to transform their fixed broadband access networks into softwarized, cloud-native and future proof edge clouds with the help of BB Suite, which is based on ONF's open-source SEBA project. With extensive domain knowledge and open-source community contributions, Argela and Netsia works together to shape the future of broadband access for operators having different requirements and business plans.
