2 Virorch Sertification

We collaborate and contribute closely with open source communities and Standardization Organizations (ETSI, 3GPP, TM Forum, MEF, etc.) in virtualization and orchestration technologies, which are important enablers of 5G and Beyond Networks, and we also use commercial products and solutions when necessary. In addition to professional engineering services, we carry out R&D, PoC, and application studies with our experienced and certified expert staff.

We provide "Virtualizatiın & Orchestration" Engineering Services both inside and outside the company with our competent and experienced staff holding international certificates on the subject.

In line with our company's technology Vision MAC Architecture, we carry out our pioneering work at the 5G Virtualization & Orchestration CoE Lab located in Istanbul and Ankara.

In Argela 5G CoE laboratories, ONAP under the open-source Linux Foundation and NFV reference architecture-targeted OSM (Open Source MANO) under ETSI are being constantly updated and tested. Further activities include preparing NS/VNF/CNF packages, PoC, and product developments. Relevant open source participation studies are carried out for the solutions to the identified problems.

Turk Telekom Cloud Infrastructure Management Platform Pilot Product (IaaS and PaaS Solutions)

The objectives of the project are to provide a completely open-source, virtual function-based cloud computing infrastructure and provide innovative cloud services to be offered to public and corporate users through the platform as IaaS and PaaS Solutions.

In the PoC project, the activities outlined below for OpenStack platform installation and related studies and expertise were carried out;

  • Easy setup and use of the Kubernetes container orchestration platform as a Dashboard-supported cluster
  • Easy to install and use the container management application with Docker Engine
  • Easy and fast (around 20 seconds) installation and use of some DB platforms on the VM
  • PostgreSQL DB and PGadmin, MariaDB Multi-Master and phpMySQL, Cassandra, mongoDB NoSQL, and mongoexpress UI
  • Web UI improvements for easy setups, real-time performance monitoring, resource usage, user registration
  • Easy creation and management of virtual servers (Linux/Windows Server) suitable for resource needs (RAM, disk, CPU, network).
  • Automatic scaling (increase or decrease) of VMs by a specified metric (such as CPU usage percentage) thresholds.

Migrating Monolithic Applications to Cloud Native Platforms

Many of our company's live products, which are operating in a monolithic structure, have been virtualized and made to work in Cloud Native environments, with our employees who have significant knowledge and experience in the transfer of monolithic or legacy applications to new and modern cloud-native environments in a microservice architecture.

Similarly, we provide similar services to other companies and projects where important units working in a monolithic structure have been virtualized. Within the scope of the ULAK Project, the OAM Server has been successfully migrated to the Kubernetes Container environment, which can operate distributed in multiple centers. In this context, the application server and database, which are completely monolithic, have been made horizontally expandable to work actively.

OpenStack Functional and Performance Tests

Argela carried out software development studies related to the installation, tuning, functional and performance tests of RHOSP (Red Hat OpenStack Platform) 12 platforms within the scope of Türk Telekom 5G and NFV & virtualization program

Test Automations

  • 130+ Rally setup verification and performance tests
  • 1200+ Functest functional tests
  • Software improvements were made to easily repeat tests and generate web-based reports.
  • An iperf-based test software has been developed that allows automatic network performance measurements and produces SVG, JPG images.
  • Measured L3 (layer-3) max bandwidth, CPU resource usage, UDP packet losses/TCP retransmits between VMs, physical compute, and external servers.
  • Profile based (such as SR-IOV, DPDK); Fa<parameters such as client, TCP, UDP and target server (VM, physical, affinity, anti-affinity), parallel network stream, different packet sizes (if TCP) were tested by preparing 160 network performance scenarios with different combinations

 Experiences

  • Different brands and models of servers such as HP, Dell, Cisco, SuperMicro were tested for OpenStack compatibility.
  • DPDK and SR-IOV network cards usage, integration, and fine-tuning studies were carried out for high performance, low-latency network operations.

End-to-End LTE RAN Orchestration with ONAP (PoC)

Within the scope of this POC study, the activation, setting, registration to EPC and IKE network tunnel setup of legacy macro, and smallcell base station by ONAP have performed fully automatically, and smart operations are performed for the base station from the metrics collected after the process. The summary of operations with Macro Base Station and Cavium Small Cell is as follows.

  • Introducing Base Stations as PNF
  • Configuring Base Stations from zero-touch via ONAP using the configuration from BSS and turning on LTE signal
  • Registration of Base Stations to EPC Core
  • Registration of UEs to EPC HSS
  • UEs receiving LTE Service from eNodeBs
  • Transfer of event and alarm information of eNodeBs to ONAP
  • Making smart transactions from incoming data; Updating eNodeB configurations in EMS for Self-organizing network (SON) operations using data from eNodeB

ONAP – SEBA Use Cases (PoC)

The following PoC studies are carried out within the scope of orchestration operations with ONAP of SEBA, which is Argela's project to provide high-speed internet and similar services over fiber network without a vendor monopoly over whitebox devices;

  • Provision of physical devices such as ONT, OLT,
  • Orchestration of virtualized systems such as VOLTHA and BNG in edge and central systems
  • Transfer of all alarm and performance information in the system to ONAP with NetConf / RestConf
