Netsia Drives Open Broadband Transformation with SEBA, Scaling to 1 Million Homes

Netsia Inc. (Netsia) and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) today announced the expansion of their carrier-scale software-defined networking deployment with Türk Telekom, Turkey’s first and largest integrated telecommunications operator.

Through the implementation of the Netsia Broadband Suite (BB Suite), ONF, Türk Telekom and Netsia are continuing to expand a disaggregated fixed broadband access network across Turkey, based on the SDN-Enabled Broadband Access (SEBA) reference architecture.

The open and disaggregated SEBA architecture enables operators to select components from multiple vendors, providing long-term flexibility and choice throughout the deployment lifecycle. This approach delivers significant cost efficiencies, operational agility, avoidance of vendor lock-in, and an enhanced overall customer experience.

As a Türk Telekom company and a key contributor to ONF’s SEBA and VOLTHA initiatives, Netsia offers its carrier-grade BB Suite as a next-generation broadband access solution. Currently being rolled out by Türk Telekom, the solution will extend to one million households across Turkey.

Netsia’s field-proven access technology provides end-to-end lifecycle management of access network devices. It enables multi-vendor fixed access network deployments while leveraging software-defined networking capabilities to rapidly launch services, dynamically allocate capacity, and resolve issues efficiently.

Following 18 months of small-scale production network trials, Netsia is now operating Türk Telekom’s virtual broadband access network as a fully integrated new platform, including complete OSS/BSS backend integration. Beyond delivering high download speeds, the network supports multimedia services that have become essential for use cases such as remote education and work-from-home. Furthermore, through virtualization technologies, Türk Telekom has prepared its fiber infrastructure for the upcoming demands of 5G networks.

This announcement marks another major milestone in the commercialization of ONF’s SEBA and VOLTHA platforms, empowering operators with robust, scalable, and open broadband PON deployment options.
